The Body Trail: In Too Deep

She followed the trail into the darkness. Now the darkness is following her.

Layla Sinclair knows monsters.

She has studied them. Interviewed them. Built a career dissecting the minds of people capable of unimaginable things.

After everything that happened in Wisconsin, Layla is ready to disappear. A secluded A-frame buried deep in the Catskills offers exactly what she needs: distance, isolation, and a chance to leave the past where it belongs.

There’s just one problem.

Layla has never been particularly good at leaving things behind.

Especially Julian.

Whatever exists between them has become darker, deeper, and far more consuming than either of them is willing to admit. Their love doesn't ask where the bodies are buried.

It already knows.

Then Caleb arrives.

After decades spent building a life in the Marines, Layla's older brother is suddenly close enough to notice the things distance allowed him to miss. The inconsistencies. The unanswered questions. The pieces of his sister's life that don't quite fit together.

And the longer he stays, the harder they become to ignore.

Because something is wrong.

Not just in the Catskills.

Not just with Layla.

Something has been hiding beneath the surface for a very long time.

And some trails aren't meant to lead you to the truth.

Some are designed to lead you exactly where someone wants you to go.
